Pork shoulder (any cut of pork will work really)
12 oz Barqs root beer (or Dr. Pepper)
Brown sugar
Salt
Pepper
Paprika
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Combine the last 6 ingredients and rub on the pork. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight.
Place the pork into the crock pot and pour the soda over top. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours.
Remove the pork and drain the liquid. Shred pork and return to crock pot. Mix in your favorite bbq sauce (I prefer sweet baby rays.) Allow the pork to cook just until the sauce is heated through and serve. Enjoy!
